Sebelumnya kita sudah belajar apa dan bagaimana contoh personal letter itu. Sekarang kita berlatih soal personal letter nya. Personal letter atau surat pribadi adalah surat tidak resmi yang biasanya dikirimkan antar teman dan antar anggota keluarga. Isi dari persoanal letter juga berkisaran tentang pengalaman dan opini pribadi yang perlu disampaikan kepada teman atau anggota keluarga yang lainnnya. Topik dari personal letter ini banyak macamnya, namun yang paling sering adalah tentang pengalaman liburan. Hal ini kemudian personaal letter ini berkaitan dengan pelajaran recount text dimana jenis teks ini disusun berfungsi untuk menceritakan kembali tentang pengalaman pribadi, perjalanan hidup seseorang, dan peristiwa sejarah. Inilah 3 tema umun sebuah teks recount bahasa Inggris yang dipelajari di bangku sekolah menengah di Indonesia. Ketiga tema itu biasanya memakai nama personal recount, biographical recout, dan historical recount text. Hampir semu jenis teks recount bahasa Inggris disusun berdasarkan generic structure sebagai berikut 1. Orientation Berisi informasi siapa dan apa yang menjadi peristiwa dan pelakunya 2. Series of event Berisis rangkaian peristiwa yang dialami oleh pelaku dalam cerita tersebut 3. Reorientation Kata penutup dari penulis atau esan dan pesan dari pekau peristiwa tersebut. Jika dalam sebuah teks cerita nyata, dan tulisannya diorganisisr memenuhi unsur generic seperti diatas, maka tulisan tersebut bisa dikelompokkan menjadi recount text. Surat pribadi tentu sedikit berbeda dengan generic structure seperti diatas. Secara umum semua surat pribadi minimal berisi tentang informasi sender, inormasia recipant, dan informasi utama. Secara khusus hal- hal yang harus dimasukkan dalam sebuah personala letter bisa membaca artikel berikut.
